Publisher: OECD | ISBN: 9264109331 | edition 2005 | PDF | 193 pages | 1,5 mb

This review of Australia’s energy policies was undertaken between February 21st and March 2nd 2005, when a team of specialists visited the cities of Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne to meet with government officials, energy suppliers, and energy consumer and public interest groups. The report covers: general energy policy; energy and the environment; energy efficiency; renewable energy; electricity; coal; natural gas; oil; and energy research and development. It concludes that energy prices in Australia are among the lowest in the IEA, due to the economic efficiency of the energy sector and the presence of abundant domestic fossil fuels. However environmental sustainability represents Australia’s greatest energy challenge.
